Sure we’ve heard rumors over the years, but that is all they have been. Many SxS enthusiasts have been dying to get the smallest tidbit of information on a sport model coming from Honda, but you’d likely have a better chance of getting classified information on the assassination of JFK than this kind of info out of Honda. In the past they’ve teased to media the potential of their capability in the Sport SxS market, like how the dual-clutch transmission used in the Pioneer 1000 is based upon the same transmission in the Acura NSX. While the power of the Pioneer 1000 doesn’t hold a candle to that of an NSX, the transmission is stout and can withstand plenty of abuse. Go back now to a little investigative journalism by our friends at ATV.com when they discovered a trademark application by Honda for a Side-by-Side vehicle/part with the name “Talon.” It seems a fitting name for a sporty UTV and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it used when Honda finally releases the name and specs on November 27. All we can say is that we’re excited to see what is coming and how it competes against the competition. Read the official release below.
Today at the AIMExpo powersports trade show, American Honda revealed that it will produce a new sport side-by-side. Honda said that the model name and specifications will be announced on November 27 in conjunction with the launch of an advertising campaign called “Life is Better SxS.”
Honda is a leading manufacturer in the four-wheel powersports category, offering a hugely popular full line of off-road products. Honda officially entered the side-by-side category in 2009 with the utility-focused Big Red. Currently, Honda’s Pioneer 500, Pioneer 700 and Pioneer 1000 enjoy great success in the multipurpose side-by-side segment.
